Kibera Scholar at Nairobi School

Wilson Ochieng was born and raised in Makina, one of the twelve villages that make up the Kibera slums. He is one of the 700 applicants who sought for the Children of Kibera Foundation scholarship. The family’s financial situation threatened to dash the dreams and hopes of this bright boy. However, his determination did not allow his financial situation to deter or influence his educational performance. This saw him perform excellently in his KCPE (national exams); earning himself an admission at the Nairobi School- a national school that is renowned for its outstanding performance and high moral standards. In fact, the school was ranked at an impressive 11th position countrywide in last year’s KCSE (national exam). It was an amazing thing that Wilson joined this fraternity of intellectuals making him the first boy from Kibera to do so in the last three years.
