World Bank Representative Visits Kibera

Last Saturday, January 30th, Children of Kibera hosted Ragini Dalal, World Bank employee who manages the Kenya branch. Ms. Dalal brought her husband, Dhiren, and two young sons, Ankit and Mikir, along for the visit. The family was greeted by CoKF Project Coordinator, Japheth Ochieng, and intern, Joscelyn Truitt, and escorted to Red Rose School, where they were given a thorough tour by Principal Buluma. As the Red Rose students remained busy at work, the family visited classrooms, viewed the school grounds, and signed the office guest book. The group then ventured down to admire the newly renovated Red Rose Middle School. Japheth walked the family further down to the Kibera railroad tracks to get a better view of the slums and the new housing developments. The tour ended with a stop at Kibra Academy to give CoKF a chance to show off the donated computer lab and equipment installed last year. They also had a chance to meet the new high school scholars, who lined up and greeted the guests. We thank the Dalal family for visiting the various projects in Kibera, which in itself is a great support for all the kids and the staff members who are tireless in making sure each project runs smoothly and effectively.
