Sponsor a primary school child for $200

WHAT YOUR $ 200 CAN DO!

Education

We believe that an investment in education is an investment in future and that it is critical to lifelong positive transformation in a child’s life.

Sadly, quality education is beyond the reach of thousands of children in Kibera slums. We aim to give hope, we aim to touch lives. Children of Kibera foundation has identified 50 children to support in 2012. These are orphans and vulnerable children who desperately need your help.

How you can help
Donate $ 200 and see 1 child through 1 year of education. This is what your 200$ will do:

Maimuna is the youngest of three children. She lives with her mother, who is separated from her father. Both of her parents are unemployed and therefore depend on relatives and friends for basic family supplies. Her favorite subject is social studies. She likes dolls, other children, and helping out around the house. She also likes to swim on Saturdays. She would like to be a doctor one day.

Halima comes from a single parent family. Together with her younger brother, they live along Karanja road in Kibera. Her mother depends on casual jobs like doing housework for other people in order to keep her family afloat though these kinds of jobs do not come so often. Halima is active, hardworking, and gets along with her teachers. She is social with other children and would like to be an air hostess when she grows up.

Gloria is 5 years old and lives in Karanja with both her parents. Her mother does housework in the rich neighborhoods to supplement in the family’s budget; her father is a tout in the public transport vehicles (a casual job that you keep at the mercy of the vehicle’s owner). Her favorite subjects are English, Maths and Swahili. She gets along with her teachers.

Faith lives in Mashimoni area of Kibera slums with her father and six other siblings. Her mother stays upcountry but visits once in a while. Her father works as a security guard and his income cannot comfortably foot all the recurrent family bills and pay for the children’s school fees. She loves to sing and help those in need. She belongs to music and drama clubs in school, sings in the church choir and aspires to becoming a nurse.

Celestine is a total orphan. She is now under the care of her aunt (a single parent) who has five children of her own plus Celestine to take care of. Life is not easy for the family for she depends on her small vegetable kiosk to provide for the children with a daily average income of $1.5. She likes Maths, Science, and playing football. Her ambition is being a teacher.
